Tensile Strength Testing

Tensile strength testing is a fundamental method for characterising the mechanical properties of waterproofing membranes, coatings, and other materials and plays a key role in material design, manufacturing and quality assurance processes. Widely used in the manufacturing, construction and materials research industries, tensile strength testing is crucial to understand material performance parameters prior to specification, production and installation.

Independent Testing Australia (ITA) is equipped with specialised apparatus to perform material testing to determine the material’s ultimate tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation properties. ITA is equipped to conduct the following testing:
· AS 1145.2: Determination of tensile properties of plastics materials part 2: test conditions for moulding and extrusion plastics.
· AS 1145.3: Determination of tensile properties of plastics materials part 3: test conditions for films and sheets.
· AS 1145.4: Determination of tensile properties of plastics materials part 4: test conditions for isotropic and orthotropic fibre-reinforced plastic composites.
· AS 1145.5: Determination of tensile properties of plastics materials part 5: test conditions for unidirectional fibre-reinforced plastic composites.
