Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight can cause material degradation, colour fading and structural changes over time. Other outdoor environmental conditions including rain, temperature fluctuations and humidity can also impact the durability of materials as they age.

Independent Testing Australia (ITA) is equipped with specialised material testing apparatus to provide UV exposure and weathering assessment of waterproofing membranes, coatings and other materials, detailing their response to prolonged exposure to the harsh Australian climate. A full understanding of material performance in these conditions allows material manufacturers, developers, importers, resellers and specifiers to predict and mitigate potential issues.

Materials are tested as per ASTM G154: Standard practice for operating fluorescent ultraviolet lamp apparatus for exposure of materials.
